Anualmente la RAD USA realiza su evento de competencia de danza titulado el RAD DANCE CHALLENGE; una excelente oportunidad para nuestros integrantes del AXDA Dance Company. Particularmente, el pasado enero 2020 tuvimos la oportunidad de representar a Puerto Rico en tan importante evento, celebrado en el California State University, en Long Beach, California, en Estados Unidos. La experiencia fue espectacular, nuestra representante, la joven Jan Marielys Flores, integrante del AXDA Dance Company y del Programa Pre-Profesional de AXDA fue nuestra digna representante. La felicitamos por su gran presentación.
En el evento del 2020, el jurado estuvo formado por Ms. Chan Hon Goh C.M.
With an illustrious stage career of over 20 years as Principal Dancer with the National Ballet of Canada, Ms. Goh is one of the most prolific artists of her generation. Her delicate lyricism and emotional depth personify the essence of numerous lead roles. Extending her reach and always advocating for the arts, Ms. Goh serves as a jury member for several international competitions. She guest instructs and sets choreography for some of the most renowned companies in the world and since 2009 has been the Executive Producer of Goh Ballet’s critically acclaimed The Nutcracker, a holiday tradition in the city of Vancouver.
Ms. Goh is a founding member of Vancouver’s Arts and Culture Policy Council, which assists in giving the creative community a voice. Her accomplishments, with irrepressible devotion to the enhancement of the cultural life of Canada, have garnered several prestigious awards including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, the YWCA Women of Distinction Award, the New Pioneers Arts Award and the Best Teacher Award at the World Ballet Competition. Most recently in 2019, Ms. Goh was appointed as a member to the Order of Canada for her excellence in ballet as a principal dancer, artistic director and cultural ambassador.
El evento tuvo variedad de talleres para los candidatos y los profesores de la RAD presentes en el evento. La facultad estuvo compuesta por: Paola Haro, Geraldine Grace Johns y Gerard Mclsaac; entre otros recursos presentes durante los talleres a maestros como parte de la educación continua.
Paola Haro ARAD, RAD RTS, RAD Tutor / Examiner is of Mexican nationality and studied ballet under the guidance of Ms. Diana Alanis and Ms. Perla Epelstein, achieving all the grades of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) including the Solo Seal Award.
Ms. Haro has more than 25 years of experience teaching classical ballet in various countries
Paola Haro ARAD, RAD RTS, RAD Tutor / Examiner is of Mexican nationality and studied ballet under the guidance of Ms. Diana Alanis and Ms. Perla Epelstein, achieving all the grades of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) including the Solo Seal Award.
Ms. Haro has more than 25 years of experience teaching classical ballet in various countries and is a Tutor for the RAD Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) and CPD (Continuing Professional Development). She also holds a certification in Autism Movement Therapy and works with children with special needs.
Geraldine Grace Johns was born in Wellington, New Zealand and studied full time at the New Zealand School of Dance from 1990. She toured for several years throughout New Zealand, Australia, Japan and Korea in Ken Hill's Original Phantom of the Opera from 1993.

In 1998 Geraldine studied at the Royal Academy of Dance in London while teaching in the Greater London Area before moving to Japan and teaching for the Kudo School of Ballet in Yokohama. Geraldine completed her studies with Paula Hunt ARAD RAD T Dip MNZM and then went on to run her own Royal Academy of Dance Academy from 2001 to 2006 in New Zealand. She accepted full time study in 2007 at the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York City.
Geraldine opened the first Royal Academy of Dance School in Manhattan in 2016 and was invited to be a guest coach for the Canadian Royal Academy of Dance Challenge for 2018 and 2019 and is honored to guest coach for the USA Dance Challenge in California.
Gerard McIsaac is a double alumnus of the Canada’s National Ballet School (Pro Ballet Program/Master Teachers Training Program for Former Pro’s), He holds a Diploma with Distinction from NBS Teachers Training Program for Former Professionals (TTPPD, Dip), Sylvie McPhee Award for Outstanding Teacher NBSTTP: Royal Academy of Dance (RAD, MRT
Gerard McIsaac is a double alumnus of the Canada’s National Ballet School (Pro Ballet Program/Master Teachers Training Program for Former Pro’s), He holds a Diploma with Distinction from NBS Teachers Training Program for Former Professionals (TTPPD, Dip), Sylvie McPhee Award for Outstanding Teacher NBSTTP: Royal Academy of Dance (RAD, MRT), His vast experience as a professional adjudicator (over 16 years at both the Regional and National levels) and his unique ability to inspire dancers of all ages to achieve their highest technical and performance potential is well respected throughout the dance community at large.
Mr. McIsaac has taught classical ballet and theatre jazz at Canada’s National Ballet School and is in high demand as an Intensive and Convention facilitator for prestigious dance events such as Canadian Dance Expo, Dance Fuzion, On The Floor, RAD World Convention “En Avante”, to name a few. Mr. McIsaac is also the resident ballet master for several competitive dance studios within the greater Toronto area. He also mentors artists for the Youth American Grand Prix and boasts an impressive roster of private clientele under his company “DANCE DIRECTION”. Mr. McIsaac’s professional performance career includes: CATS, MISS SAIGON, HOME AND AWAY THE MUSICAL, UK Tour; JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, SHOWBOAT, and many more.

Conocido simplemente como "The Genée", es una de las competencias de ballet más prestigiosas del mundo, que atrae a los mejores bailarines jóvenes entrenados en el programa RAD, de todo el mundo. Los candidatos reciben una oportunidad única de trabajar con coreógrafos y maestros de renombre durante cinco días antes de presentarse en las semifinales, y luego en la final, donde compiten por una variedad de medallas. (The Genée, 2018) Anualmente el evento se lleva a cabo en diversas partes del mundo, el año pasado (2017) se llevó a cabo en Portugal y en el 2018 el evento será en Hong Kong, China.
"The Genée” está abierto a los bailarines que hayan aprobado los exámenes RAD Intermediate, Advanced 1 y Advanced 2 en Classical Ballet (Advanced 2 with Distinction) o hayan recibido el Premio Solo Seal. Los solicitantes deben ser miembros actuales de la RAD. Los candidatos deben tener entre 15 y 19 años de edad en la fecha de cierre de la solicitud, ser preprofesionales y no haber estado empleados en un contrato profesional antes de la entrada a la competencia. La competencia internacional, “The Genée”, representa otra de las grandes oportunidades que tendrán nuestros bailarines que pasen los exámenes con distinción. Siendo esta distinción, el resultado más alto esperado al ejecutar los exámenes de la RAD; esto implica que el bailarín posee: “Técnica segura y precisa en general, con la capacidad de demostrar el contraste en el estilo requerido por el contenido. La musicalidad está altamente desarrollada la mayor parte del tiempo y el rendimiento muestra una expresión y comunicación apropiadas.” (RAD Specifications, Information, rules and regulations about examinations valid from 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2018)
